Turmeric to Honey Can Be Animal Medicine? Minpro Vesica FKH Unud Thoroughly Examines Kitchen Ingredients for Animal Health

Professional Interest (Minpro) Veterinary Science Club (Vesica) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Udayana University (FKH Unud) held a public lecture with an interesting theme, namely "From Kitchen to Clinic: The Use of Natural Materials as Animal Health Support Therapy" which was held on Saturday, May 25, 2025, online via Zoom Meeting. The Vesica 2025 Public Lecture attracted 72 participants from various backgrounds, both FKH Unud students and general participants from outside the institution. This activity was also attended by the supervisor of Minpro Vesica, Chairperson of the Student Executive Board (BEM) and Deputy Chairperson of the BEM FKH Unud, Chairperson of the Student Representative Council (DPM) FKH Unud, General Leader of the Student Press Institute (LPM) Suara Satwa FKH Unud, and Chairperson of Minpro Vesica FKH Unud.





Raising a unique concept related to the utilization of kitchen ingredients such as turmeric, ginger, garlic, honey, and coconut oil as an alternative animal treatment therapy, Minpro Vesica presented drh. Samsuri, M.Kes., as a speaker who has a professional background in the field. The presentation also covered the benefits of natural therapies for anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, immunostimulant, antiparasitic, and antioxidant effects, as well as safety aspects, dosage, and formulation of natural ingredients. In addition, he also discussed the ethics and regulation of the use of natural ingredients in the veterinary world, including the potential for research and innovation in the field of veterinary natural therapies.

 

 


"Hopefully what has been shared by the speakers can inspire us to be more caring and creative in finding healthy alternatives for animals, especially from natural ingredients that have extraordinary potential," said the Chief Executive of the Vesica 2025 Public Lecture, Akbar Nandung Panjalu, when interviewed via WhatsApp message (25/05/25). He also hopes that this public lecture does not stop here, but can be a starting point for students who are interested in conducting further research in this field.


The event went smoothly without any significant obstacles. Furthermore, after the presentation of the material ended, the enthusiasm of the participants was seen during the discussion session. Participants asked various questions related to the material on natural therapy in veterinary practice. Before closing this public lecture, Minpro Vesica held a games session that entertained the participants.
