Sudent Organization Interest the Turtle Guard FVM Udayana Held an External Public Lecture "Veterinary Practice: Caring for Aquatic Animal Health and Welfare"


The Professional Interest (Minpro) of Aquatic Animal Turtle Guard from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) of Udayana University once again carried out its annual work program by organizing an External Lecture with the theme "Veterinary Practice: Caring for Aquatic Animal Health and Welfare." According to Gede Bagus Chandra Prasetya Wijaya, the Chairperson of the External Lecture Committee, this theme was chosen because Minpro Turtle Guard focuses on turtles. "Alasan kami memilih tema ini adalah karena kami memiliki minat profesi yang berfokus pada penyu, dan dalam beberapa bulan terakhir telah terjadi sering penyu terdampar. Oleh karena itu, kami berharap kuliah umum ini dapat meningkatkan pemahaman tentang penyu terdampar dan mengetahui cara penanganannya," he explained.



In this public lecture, Minpro Turtle Guard also collaborated with the Kelompok Minat Profesi Veteriner Pet and Wild Animal (KMPV PW) from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Airlangga University, and the Minpro Satwa Liar from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya University as media partners. This lecture was conducted online via the Cisco Webex platform on Saturday, March 30th, 2024. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Udayana University, the Chairman of Minpro Turtle Guard FVM Udayana University, and approximately 150 participants from students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Udayana University, Airlangga University, Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya University, and students from other universities.

The event began with opening remarks from the Chairperson of the External Lecture Committee, the Chairperson of Minpro Turtle Guard, and the Chairman of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Udayana University, who also officially opened the event on behalf of the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Udayana University, who was unable to attend. The event then proceeded with a presentation by the distinguished speaker, drh. Ida Bagus Windia Adnyana, Ph.D. (drh. Guswin), who delivered a lecture on "Rehabilitasi dan Kesehatan Penyu Laut". He discussed the reasons for sea turtle rehabilitation, diagnostic techniques, handling, as well as proper techniques for releasing turtles back into the wild. The activities continued with a discussion session, ice breaking, announcement of the best participants, and concluded with a documentation session.




The public lecture proceeded smoothly, with participants showing enthusiasm in asking questions, which were addressed in detail by drh. Guswin during the discussion session. The successful implementation of this External Lecture is expected to enhance participants knowledge about aquatic animals, particularly turtles.
