Student Profession Interest Organization Turtle Guard FVM UNUD Holds Public Lecture Marine mammal conservation in Indonesia: status, challenges and opportunities

Saturday, March 25, 2023 is the day of Kuliah Umum 1 Minat Profesi Turtle Guard with the theme "Marine mammal conservation in Indonesia: status, challenges and opportunities." The activity which was attended by 103 student participants from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University was held online through the Cisco Webex Meeting.

Kuliah Umum 1 Minpro Turtle Guard was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. drh. I Nyoman Suartha, M.Si, who brought the speech and opened the event. In his remarks, the Dean said that this activity was very important for students because being a veterinarian is not only fixated on one field, but all fields. In addition, he advised students not only to be active in class or lectures but also to be active through student activities. This event was also attended by the supervisor of the Minpro Turtle Guard, drh. Ida Bagus Windia Adnyana, Ph.D and Head of BEM FVM Udayana University, Alvin Limanto.

 


This activity aims to educate students about aquatic marine mammals which are the object of their future work as veterinarians. The material was brought by drh. Aidil Calvianto who is also an alumnus of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University. During the material process, drh. Aidil provides a lot of knowledge to students regarding common diseases, interests, and challenges in handling dolphins.

The event took place in a conducive manner and the participants were also quite interactive with the speakers, namely being active in asking various questions during the discussion session. In addition, in this activity there was a game session that was brought by the committee so that the participants did not get bored during the event. The prizes for the winners of the games will later be given by the speaker, drh. Aidil.

 


With the implementation of this public lecture, it is hoped that all participants will be able to better understand their future roles as veterinarians, especially in the field of aquatic animals and can add insight into handling dolphins.
