Strengthening the Eastern Indonesia Regional Veterinary Network, FVM Unud extends cooperation with FMVM Undana.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) of Udayana University has extended cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (FMVM) of Nusa Cendana University. The activity of extending this cooperation during an FMVM visit to FVM Unud (22/12/2022) took place in the 1st floor meeting room of the FVM Unud building. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University, Vice Deans, Coordinators of Undergraduate, Profession and Masters Programs in Veterinary Medicine, Coordinator of the Information Management Unit and Cooperation and the FVM Unud Cooperation Team while from FMVM Undana there was the Vice Dean for General Administration and Finance, drh. Yohanes T.R.M.R. Simarmata, M.Si ;, Coordinator of the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine Study Program, drh. Elisabet Tangkonda, M.Sc, Ph.D and Coordinator of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program, Dr. drh. Novalino H. G. Kallau, M.Sc.
Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University Prof. Dr. drh. I Nyoman Suartha, M.Si in his remarks said that this collaboration was very important not only for increasing the Main Performance Index (MPI) for faculties and universities but also for increasing veterinary networks, especially in the Eastern Indonesia region. Prof. further Suartha said that in 2023 Udayana University was planned to become a PTN BH so that more collaboration was needed in the field of Tri Dharma of Higher Education. "The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Udayana University will also open a Veterinary Doctoral Study Program in 2023 so we invite our alumni and colleagues at Undana who wish to continue to the Doctoral level," closed Prof. Suartha at the end of the speech.
Meanwhile, the Vice Dean for General Administration and Finance of the Faculty of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, Nusa Cendana University said that FVM Unud is like the parents of FMVM Undana, because most of the lecturers at FMVM Undana are alumni of FVM Unud. Drh. Yohanes further explained the profile regarding FMVM Undana. The Faculty of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, Nusa Cendana University consists of 5 study programs, namely the Bachelor of Medicine, Doctor Profession, Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Profession and Pharmacy Study Programs. There are also several study programs that are in the process of being established, such as the Bachelor of Dentistry Study Program, Internal Medicine Specialist Study Program, Anesthesia Study Program and Pediatric Specialist Study Program. The Faculty of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, Nusa Cendana University also plans to open a Masters in Veterinary Medicine Study Program which will be the first in Indonesia, namely the Veterinary Pharmacy Study Program. "Veterinary Pharmacy is urgently needed at this time, because there are no special pharmacists who deal with drug problems in animals," concluded drh. John.
The Faculty of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, Nusa Cendana University is the only Faculty of Medicine and its Faculty of Veterinary Medicine together. The unification of the two faculties is a commitment from FVMH Undana to focus on developing the one health program. Currently, FVMH Undana has built the one health building in the context of developing the one health program. The collaboration between FVM Unud and FMVM Undana has been going on for a long time. Many activities have been running such as visiting lecturers where FVM Unud lecturers teach at FMVM Undana. In preparation for the opening of the Veterinary Medicine Masters Study Program, FMVM Undana invited FVM Unud Professors to become teachers there considering that class meetings can be held online. In addition, FVM Unud is exploring the MBKM Independent Student Exchange program with FMVM Undana, considering that the demographics of endemic animals in NTT are similar to those in Bali.
