Scholarly Works, Students Arsenal: Enhance Writing Skills with Vesica
The External Public Lecture by the Veterinary Science Club (Vesica), Professional Interests (Minpro) of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) Udayana University, took place again on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, in person within the 3rd floor courtroom at the Dean's office of the Udayana University College of Veterinary Medicine, Jimbaran Campus. Minpro Vesica is one of professional interests at FKH Unud that focus on research and scientific publication. In this External Public Lecture, Minpro Vesica raised the theme "Optimizing the Existence of Vesica’s Creativity Through Scientific Writings" which was attended by 54 participants from FKH Unud.
The External Public Lecture this time featured two inspiring speakers, each addressing different aspects of optimizing the quality of FKH Unud students through scientific writing. The first speaker, I Gede Arie Mahendra Putra, S.T.P., M.T.P., who presented on "Tips and Tricks for Effective and Efficient Writing". He is a lecture from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Udayana University, delivered a session on known for his extensive experience in research and publication, as well as mentoring students to achieve international accolades. Mr. Arie’s detailed and substantial explanation on crafting scholarly works captivated the participants. Additionally, Mr. Arie also provided encouragement to participants, whether they were just beginning their journey or have been long involved in the field of publication and research.
The equally captivating second session was delivered by Dr. drh. Hapsari Mahatmi, M.P., a Vesica mentor, presented on "Enhancing Soft Skills (EQ) Related to PKM: Strategies for Broadening Perspectives on PKM, Sanctions, and Plagiarism". She emphasized the critical role of communication in the process and publication of academic works. She has argued that beyond proficient writing skills, the ability to effectively convey innovative and creative ideas significantly boosts the success of scholarly works.
The engaging topics and lively games successfully ignited the participants enthusiasm for learning during the External Public Lecture by Minpro Vesica. Through this lecture, participants were expected to gain a deeper understanding of how to enhance creativity through scientific writing and were inspired to apply new methods in their studies. Hopefully, the enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge will to thrive as a provision for the veterinarians of FKH Unud. "I hope students become more aware of the importance of scientific writing, as it is integral to our daily activities as veterinary students. I also hope that each of us becomes more attuned to improving and learning proper writing techniques," said the Chairman of the 2024 External Public Lecture Vesica, Diva Aura.
