Public Lecture with drh. Jasim: Build Cooperation, Improve the Quality of World Veterinarians

In order to improve the quality of world veterinarians and build cooperation with Murdoch University, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University (FKH Unud) held a public lecture on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. This public lecture was held in the 1st floor conference room, FKH Unud, Sudirman Campus, with the topic "Sustainable Global Protein Supply: Addressing Animal Health Challenges". Different from other public lectures, this activity invited speakers from abroad as well as senior lecturers of animal virology at the School of Veterinary Medicine, Murdoch University, Australia, drh. Muhammad Jasim Uddin, D.V.M., M.S., Ph.D.



In this public lecture, FKH Unud specializes that participants only come from students of the Veterinary Professional Program (PPDH) and Master of Veterinary Medicine who have written research results or thesis to be in line with the material presented. The research related to the types of viruses that attack consumption animals and their impact on food security is the main focus of drh. Jasim in this material. About 62 participants were seen intensely listening to the delivery of the material, especially when drh. Jasim mentioned that the HPAI A(H5N1) avian influenza virus has been found to attack cows on dairy farms in America and can be transmitted to humans.

The visit of drh. Jasim's visit to Bali was also a form of initiation of cooperation between the School of Veterinary Medicine, Murdoch University, Australia, and FKH Unud. In addition, he also expressed his desire to bring his students to FKH Unud in February 2025 as an implementation of cooperation through student exchange.

 


According to the Vice Chairman of Foreign Cooperation of FKH Unud, drh. I Made Kardena, M.V.S., currently Murdoch University has agreed on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Udayana University, but does not yet have a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between their respective veterinary faculties. It is hoped that through public lectures and upcoming student exchange activities there will be an MoA between the two faculties and more other activities involving experts in the field of veterinary medicine from abroad to come and share knowledge and experience with the academic community of FKH Unud.
