PKMM 2023 Main Day: Leadership in Action, Making Vision a Reality.

The main day of Student Leadership and Management Training (PKMM) took place at the Education, Youth, and Sports Office of Bali Province on Saturday, October 14th, 2023. The event began with participant registration, including checking their attire and belongings, and singing the national anthems. Afterward, all participants were directed to enter the main event hall in an orderly fashion.

The official event started with an opening ceremony led by the Master of Ceremony, Anisa Fadhia. The opening included singing the national anthems, prayers, and welcoming speeches. This was followed by a report from the head of the PKMM organizing committee, Clarissa Devina Coaniago. Then, there was a speech by the Chairman of the Student Executive Board, Alvin Limanto, who addressed two important components: the attitude of a leader and the attitude of being led. He also discussed the three key leadership qualities of a veterinarian, which are "Knowledgeable, proactive, and beneficial." His speech concluded with a quote from Bung Karno, "A thousand old people can dream, but one young person can change the world."

"Leadership has its time and era, depending on who is being led and who is leading. I hope that the students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Udayana University are willing to go through the process of becoming the kind of students that will grow and be needed in the future, and I'll conclude with an encouraging statement for students not to close themselves off," expressed Dr. Drh. I Wayan Sudira, M.Si, as the Deputy Dean 3 of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Udayana University, during the opening of the PKMM 2023.

The first session began with a presentation on the topic "Leadership in Action" by Mrs. Made Padma Dewi Bajirani, M.Psi. She emphasized that one of the key aspects of building effective leadership is a journey that involves self-development and critical skills.

"First, it's important to focus on oneself. This means recognizing your strengths and weaknesses and continuously enhancing competence and self-confidence. Furthermore, adding value to others and your team is a crucial foundation in leadership. Good leadership prioritizes serving others and strives to help them reach their full potential," she said during the presentation session.

In addition, she also discussed effective actions taken by leaders, emotional building components, leadership roles, and mentioned various leadership styles. The material was interesting and captivated the participants, leading to a discussion session with the smainer.

The second event was a workshop. During the workshop, participants visited several stations related to leadership traits, including how to engage in discussions, show initiative, think critically, build self-confidence/mental strength, cooperate, and lead or be led. Each station had different tasks, and the output that participants would obtain is a set of moral values that can be applied to a student's life as a future leader. After completing the workshop, participants were asked to return to the main event room. It was then explained again, with the aim of ensuring that the participants remembered and understood the key points of the workshop held during the PKMM 2023.

The event continued with a presentation of the class assignments explained by the head and deputy head of the class of 2023 along with two colleagues who helped explain the X-Banner that their class had made. Following that, the announcement of the winners for the best group video assignment was made. The first place was secured by Group 4, the second place by Group 1, and the third place by Group 3. The event was then concluded with a documentation session to capture the precious moments, followed by the closing ceremony, marking the end of the orientation program.

"The main day of PKMM is an experience filled with challenges and tension. Nevertheless, this event provides numerous valuable lessons about leadership and self-awareness. The content presented in PKMM is highly beneficial and aids in understanding crucial aspects of leadership and self-awareness," expressed Ni Putu Kesha Pramadina Putri from Group 01 (Adil) when interviewed about her impressions and takeaways from the event. She also suggested that it would be better to include a station focusing on mental health issues because it is essential for a leader.
