Minpro Rothschildi FKH Unud Ready to Form a Generation of Wildlife Veterinarians
The Professional Interest (Minpro) Rothschildi Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University (FKH Unud) held the inauguration of new members on Sunday to Tuesday, January 19-21, 2025, at the West Bali National Park (TNBB) Campground, Gilimanuk. The selection of TNBB as the location of the activity is not only based on its natural beauty, but also aims to allow participants to recognize and appreciate Indonesia's natural wealth directly and to strengthen the sense of kinship and teamwork. This annual activity aims to regenerate Minpro Rothschildi as well as introduce participants to the world of veterinary work in the field of wildlife.
On the first day, participants gathered at the Dean's Building of FKH Unud, Jimbaran Campus, and went directly to the activity by bus. Participants arrived at the activity location at 12.30 Wita, then officially opened by the Chairman of the Student Executive Board (BEM) FKH Unud, Putu Surya Pratama Putra. After the opening, the activity continued with the presentation of material on “Conservation Efforts of the West Bali National Park” by the Forest Ecosystem Controller (FEC) of TNBB, drh. Hana Retno Erdianti, as well as poster presentations from each cluster, namely Herbivore Cluster (studying plant-eating animals), Primate Cluster (studying mammals of the order primates), Ornithology Cluster (studying birds), Carnivore Cluster (studying meat-eating animals), Omnivore Cluster (studying omnivorous animals), Aquatic Cluster (studying animals that live in water), and Herpetology Cluster (studying reptiles and amphibians). Each cluster had previously been given a poster assignment related to one of the wildlife in accordance with their cluster, the participants then explained the morphology, classification, diet, behavior, and conservation status of the wildlife. Participants seemed enthusiastic as seen from the crowd of questioners during the presentation discussion session. The first day of activities was then closed with dinner and worship.
The second day started with morning exercises and breakfast, then continued with tracking as far as 8 km. Participants will pass seven different posts, namely Herbivore Post, Primate Post, Ornithology Post, Carnivore Post, Omnivore Post, Aquatic Post, and Herpetology Post. Along the way to the post, participants were given three to four materials related to wildlife, which would later become the basis of the challenges that would be given at each post. In the evening, the event continued with a night of intimacy filled with art performances from each cluster.
The last day of this activity was filled with the oath-taking ceremony which symbolized the official inauguration of participants as the new members of Minpro Rothschildi FKH Unud. The activity continued with a cooking competition, breakfast together, and the distribution of awards for each cluster as a closing. Then, the participants returned to the Dean's Building of FKH Unud, Jimbaran Campus, and arrived at 17.43 Wita. Although heavy rain fell on the second and third days, participants were still enthusiastic about participating in the entire series of activities. “Hopes that this experience will not only be a memory, but also a valuable lesson that shapes the character and commitment of the participants in the future,” said the Chief Executive of the Inauguration of Minpro Rothschildi FKH Unud 2025, Sasha Syaloom Stephanie Senduk.
