Field Trip FKH Unud 2024: Educational Adventure in Bird Habitats
Field Trip of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University (FKH Unud) 2024 is a part of the introduction programme for new FKH Unud students. This Field Trip is an activity designed to provide insight and field experience related to the world of veterinarians and must be attended by all new students. This year, Field Trip FKH Unud carries the theme “Spread Your Wings, Explore Your Knowledge Through the Horizon” and was attended by 176 students of FKH Unud.
This activity is divided into two series of events, namely the Preparation Event, held on Saturday, 14 September 2024, and the Main Event on Saturday, 21 September 2024. The Preparation Event took place in person at the Auditorium of the Youth and Sports Education Office of Bali Province. This event marked the official start of the 2024 Field Trip, inaugurated by the Dean of FKH Unud and attended by the Vice Dean of Student Affairs at FKH Unud.
The main agenda of the Preparation Event consisted of two sessions of presentations. The first session, titled "Veterinary Careers Unleashed: Opportunities, Challenges, and Future Directions," was delivered by Dr. drh. Ida Bagus Kade Suardana, M.Si., a lecturer at FKH Unud. The second session, titled "Veterinarians for Birds: Understanding the Impact of Veterinary Medicine on Avian Conservation Efforts," was presented by Drh. I Nyoman Trisna Bayu, a veterinarian actively involved in conservation and currently working at Bali Bird Park.
To ensure that the Main Event of the 2024 Field Trip offers an engaging, hands-on experience, it was held in person at Bali Bird Park. The agenda began with a tour, where participants had the opportunity to observe various bird species from around the world in environments resembling their natural habitats. The day continued with a lively gathering (outbound) filled with enthusiasm and excitement from all participants. The event concluded with speeches from the Chairperson of the 2024 Field Trip Committee, the President of the Student Executive Board, representatives from Bali Bird Park, Field Trip Supervising Lecturers, and the Dean of FKH Unud, who symbolically ended the event with the release of doves.
It is hoped that through this event, students can broaden their knowledge of ecosystems and animal conditions in their natural habitats, deepen their understanding of conservation efforts, and enhance their skills in natural resource management. In his speech, the Dean of FKH Unud stated, "This activity is not just a tour, but an educational opportunity to deepen academic understanding and explore veterinary career opportunities in the professional world."
