Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University Participates in FMDVaccination Activities carried out by the Buleleng Regency Agriculture Office.


Lecturers and Students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University (FVM Unud) that joined in Volunteer FVM FMD UNUD participated in the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination activity organized by the Department of Agriculture, Animal Health Sub-Sector, Buleleng Regency on Saturday (16/7/2022).


The vaccination activity was attended by veterinarians from the department, lecturers and students of FVM UNUD, Pemuteran Grokgak Village officials, and village security and order. This activity is expected to minimize the transmission of FMD through vaccination of cattle and socialization to cattle owners in Pemuteran Village.

The activity began with a briefing by Drh. I Gst. Bagus Oka Yadnya as Head of the Animal Health Section, Buleleng Regency Agriculture Service. The activity continued with the division of teams and each vaccination target area. FVM UNUD students participated in vaccination activities by participating in teams which were accompanied by veterinarians from the department and village authorities. In addition, socialization activities were also carried out to disseminate information about FMD in Pemuteran Village. Vaccination is carried out using personal protective equipment and procedures in accordance with the applicable FMD Vaccination Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

 


The FMD vaccination activity was enthusiastically welcomed by the village and the local community, the farmers in Pemuteran Village escorted the vaccination team to the location of the cowshed and provided information on the number of animals, sex, and age of the animals for filling out the FMD vaccination data form. The vaccination team always carries out cleaning and disinfection both before and after visiting the location of the farms that are the target of vaccination activities.

"I'm happy to be able to directly contribute to the prevention and control of FMD disease, especially in Bali," said I Nyoman Surya Tri Hartaputera as a FVM UNUD student who participated in the FMD vaccination activity in Grokgak Buleleng.



By holding vaccination and socialization activities related to the rise of FMD cases, it is hoped that it can prevent transmission and protect healthy livestock from spreading FMD in the Bali area.
