Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Udayana University held the ASEAN Companion Animal Parasite Experts (CAPE) Summit 2023 Workshop in collaboration with PT. Elanco Animal Health Indonesia

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM), Udayana University, held the ASEAN Companion Animal Parasite Experts (CAPE) Summit 2023 (31/05/2023) at the Dean Building of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University, Bukit Jimbaran, Badung, Bali. The workshop activities were attended by 28 veterinarians from various countries in ASEAN and 30 students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Udayana University. Also present on this occasion were the Dean, Vice Deans, Study Program Coordinators, the Unud FVM Cooperation Team. as well as representatives from PT. Elanco Animal Health Indonesia.

 


This workshop presents speakers who are experts in the field of veterinary parasitology, namely Dr. Malaika Watanabe who is the Veterinary Clinical Director of Veterinary Excellent Care (VEC), Malaysia, Dr. Nor Azlina Binti Abdul Aziz from Putra Malaysia University, Dr. Vito Colella from the University of Melbourne, Australia and Asst. Prof. Dr. Woraporn Sukhumavas from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. The workshop activities were divided into 2 sessions. First, presentation by the speakers and then wet lab activities in the veterinary parasitology laboratory. In the wet lab activity, the participants performed parasite examination techniques on small animals such as simple faecal flotation Centrifugal sedimentation and Thin Blood Smear.

 


This workshop activity is the implementation of the first collaboration between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University and PT. Elanco Animal Health Indonesia. During this activity, the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was also signed between the two parties. Dean of FVM Unud, Prof. Dr. drh. I Nyoman Suartha, M.Si, said that this activity was the beginning of a good collaboration for both parties and hoped that there would be more activities like this in the future. "This workshop is a joint commitment in increasing knowledge in the field of veterinary medicine, especially veterinary parasitology, as well as building a network between veterinarians at the ASEAN level," said Prof. Suartha in his speech.
