Doctoral Program Curriculum Workshop FKH Unud: Aligning Education with Market Needs

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Udayana University (FKH Unud) successfully held a Workshop on Curriculum Development and Academic Guidelines for the Veterinary Science Doctoral Study Program, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University. This activity was carried out offline in the Meeting Room, 1st Floor, FKH Unud Building, Sudirman Campus. The activity was opened with remarks by the Dean of FKH Unud, Prof. Dr. drh. I Nyoman Suartha, M.Si., in his remarks he explained that this curriculum development workshop is important as a reference for education that will be provided, so that later doctors who graduate from this program do not deviate from market needs. 

This workshop presented various of important figures so that they can provide suggestions and input in compiling the curriculum, namely the Head of Balai Besar Veteriner (BBVet) Denpasar, the Head of Balai Pembibitan Ternak Unggul dan Hijauan Pakan Ternak (BPTU HPT) Denpasar, the Head of Perhimpunan Dokter Hewan Indonesia (PDHI) Bali, the Secretary of Lembaga Pengembangan Pembelajaran dan Penjaminan Mutu (LP3M) Udayana University, Representatives of the Dinas Pertanian dan Ketahanan Pangan Provinsi Bali, Balai Besar Penerapan Instrumen Pertanian, Balai Besar Karantina Bali, Ikatan Alumni Universitas Udayana, several colleagues, Heads of S-1, S-2 and S-3 FKH Unud Study Programs, and FKH Unud Lecturers.

In this Workshop there were two sessions of material delivery, the first material entitled "Implementasi PERMENDIKBUD RISTEK NO. 53/2023 Pada Kurikulum dan Pedoman Akademik Prodi S-3 FKH Unud" which was delivered by the Secretary of LP3M Udayana University, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Made Alit Karyawan Salain, DEA. This material aims to align the curriculum that will be used in this study program with the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (PERMENDIKBUD RISTEK).

 

The second material is "Penyakit Hewan Menular Strategis (PHMS) di Wilayah Kerja Balai Besar Veteriner Denpasar" which was delivered by the Head of BBVet Denpasar, Dr. drh. I Ketut Wirata, M.Si. This material contains an explanation of the types of diseases, situations and solutions for PHMS in the BBVet work areas, there's Bali, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) as a reference for the curriculum in this study program, so that later the graduates produced can contribute to the work situation.

The material delivery session ended with a discussion and suggestion session. In this session, the Workshop participants actively provided questions, opinions, and suggestions that could later be used in compiling the curriculum. The activity continued with a discussion on the Draft Curriculum for the Doctoral Study Program, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University which had been prepared previously. The activity was closed with the reading and ratification of the agreed draft curriculum.

The ultimate goal of this Workshop is to align the curriculum in the doctoral study program at FKH Unud, it is hoped that with the determination of this curriculum the doctoral study program at FKH Unud can produce competent graduates and later be able to make a good contribution to the job market.
