Collaboration Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Udayana University and Seva Bhuana Foundation Hold Free Mass Sterilization
Saturday (23/04), the Committee for the World Veterinary Day Student Executive Board (SEB) of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University together with the Seva Bhuana Foundation officially held a Community Service Activity in the form of sterilizing local dogs and cats in Banjar Park, Gubug Village, Tabanan. This activity is a continuation of the extension activities that were carried out earlier on Sunday (17/04). Since 08.00 AM, the entire activity committee has gathered at the Banjar Ambengan Hall which is the place where the service activities take place. The activity began with listening to a brief direction from the Head of Education Seva Bhuana Foundation. "We will start registration at 09.00 AM, later I will ask two people to accompany our admin. Five people to help with the preparations, then there is also documentation to sponsor our activities," said Kak Agra Utari as the Head of Education Division of the Seva Bhuana Foundation.
Then, the activity continued with the opening and awarding of certificates of appreciation to Banjar Taman and the Seva Bhuana Foundation from the WVD SEB FVM Unud 2022 committee. The opening activity was enlivened with loud applause from the committee who could not wait to join the series of devotions that day. Moreover, the banjar which was the target of sterilization was very open to accepting the committee's presence. “We are very happy and welcome the arrival of the younger siblings who want to carry out community service activities in our village. Moreover, there have been no service activities here for a long time,” said Mr. Gung Surya, one of the representatives from Banjar Taman, Gubug Village, Tabanan.
The enthusiasm of the residents can also be felt when many people come even before the registration time begins. Not wanting to be left behind, the residents were very enthusiastic when asked about this sterilization activity. "The information was obtained from flyer that was distributed by the committee and the information was also disseminated by the banjar staff," said Mr. Wisnu as a resident who participated in the sterilization activity. Not only Mr. Wisnu, Mr. Gung Surya as the banjar representative also participated in providing his response regarding the sterilization activities carried out. He revealed that this activity had a positive impact on local residents who wanted their pets to be healthy. He also expressed his pride and joy to the committee members who were willing to serve.
In addition to holding sterilization activities, at the same time the Agriculture Service of UPTD Puskeswan Tabanan also participated in providing mass vaccinations for free. This of course adds to the attractiveness of the service activities carried out. Especially during outreach activities, most of the residents also questioned whether there were other forms of service, apart from sterilization. Other excitement was felt by the committee who was invited as a dog catcher to catch stray dogs around the banjar. When the sterilization activity took place, some of the committee also took part in inviting younger siblings or children from the residents who carried out the sterilization to color as a preventive measure to divert their attention.
The sterilization activity was finished before the specified time, which was 15.00 PM. At
12.00 PM, a closed registration because the planned target has been met. From the data obtained, the number of local dogs and cats that were successfully sterilized was 42 with details, namely 4 male dogs, 13 female dogs, and 6 male cats, and 9 female cats.
The sterilization activity was closed with a meal and a group photo session between the committee, banjar representatives, and the Seva Bhuana Foundation. "We are very open if later the brothers and the Seva Bhuana Foundation want to come back and do service again in this village," concluded Mr. Gung Surya that afternoon (23/04).
