Pet Vision P-LO 2025 Public Lecture: Understanding Feed Quality to Fulfill the Nutritional Needs of Your Beloved Pets

Saturday, December 20, 2025, the Professional Interest Group (Minpro) of the Pet Learning Organization (P-LO) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University (FKH Unud), held the Pet Vision 2025 Public Lecture online via the Zoom Meeting platform. The event was attended by the Advisor of Minpro P-LO, the Head of Student Executive Board (BEM) FKH Unud, the Head of Minpro P-LO, the Head of Pet Vision 2025 Public Lecture event, as well as 90 participants who are students from Udayana University, Airlangga University, Padjadjaran University, and Lampung University.

The Pet Vision 2025 Public Lecture carried the theme “From Bowl to Belly: The Journey of Quality Pet Food” and featured Dr. drh. Nusdianto Triakoso, M.P., as the speaker. This activity aimed to increase participants' understanding of the importance of feed quality and the significance of a bowl of food for pets' health. The series of activities began with a prayer and the playing of the Indonesian national anthem and the FKH Unud anthem, followed by reports from the Event Head, Djangkaru Larasati, and remarks from the Minpro P-LO Head, Febriyan Muji Hartini, BEM FKH Unud Head, I Gede Eka Dista Parandika, and the event was officially opened by the Minpro P-LO Advisor, Prof. Dr. drh. I Ketut Puja, M.Kes.

The main agenda was a lecture session by Dr. drh. Nusdianto Triakoso, M.P. In his presentation, he discussed high-quality nutrition in dog and cat food, starting with the basics of nutritional physiology, emphasizing the importance of understanding the differences in specific nutritional needs between obligate and facultative carnivores, the cat's metabolic system, and the enzymes involved in digestion. He also explained the history of pet food and its various forms such as dry, wet, and semiwet food.

Furthermore, Dr. drh. Nusdianto Triakoso, M.P., also highlighted the impact of feed quality and selection on animal health, including case studies of nutrition-related diseases, such as taurine deficiency, dilated cardiomyopathy, and urinary tract disorders. Therefore, choosing the right feed plays an important role in maintaining the long-term health of cats and dogs. The presentation session concluded with high participant enthusiasm during the discussion, and was followed by the awarding of a certificate to the speaker. The next agenda was filled with a game session through the Kahoot! platform, which was then followed by the announcement of the winners. In that session, Allifa won first place, followed by Mutiah S in second place, and Shaula in third place. The activity was then closed with a group photo.

Overall, the Pet Vision 2025 Public Lecture was conducted smoothly, despite some network issues at certain points that caused audio quality to decrease. However, these issues did not lessen the participants' enthusiasm throughout the event. Through this activity, it is hoped that participants not only gained new knowledge, but also developed a broader understanding of the field of veterinary medicine and its role in realizing the concept of “healthy pet, healthy human”.
