Udayana University’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Adds Four New Professors, Strengthening the Development of Veterinary Science

Jimbaran – Universitas Udayana has once again reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality of higher education through the inauguration of 10 permanent professors, held at the Widya Sabha Auditorium, Jimbaran Campus, on Saturday (April 11, 2026). Among them, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM Udayana) emerged as one of the main contributors, adding four new professors.

The four professors from FVM Udayana are Prof. Drh. I Made Kardena, MVS., Ph.D. (Veterinary Epidemiology); Prof. Dr. drh. Hamong Suharsono, M.Kes. (Biomedical Biochemistry); Prof. Dr. drh. Ida Bagus Oka Winaya, M.Kes. (Cellular Pathology); and Prof. Dr. drh. I Gusti Ngurah Sudisma, M.Si. (Veterinary Surgery and Anesthesia). This inauguration marks an important milestone in strengthening FVM Udayana’s academic capacity as well as its contribution to the advancement of veterinary science.

The Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., emphasized in his remarks that the title of professor is not merely the highest academic achievement, but also a great responsibility in carrying out roles as educators, researchers, and community servants.

“This inauguration is an important momentum to strengthen the quality of human resources while supporting the realization of a university that is excellent, independent, and culturally grounded,” he stated.

With the addition of these four professors, FVM Udayana further reinforces its position as a leading center for veterinary science development. The diverse fields of expertise, ranging from epidemiology to veterinary surgery, are expected to enhance the quality of education, research, and community services, particularly in addressing animal diseases and veterinary public health.

Overall, FVM Udayana now has 23 active permanent professors. This achievement represents a strategic step in human resource development, while also encouraging lecturers to attain the highest academic rank and contribute meaningfully to challenges in animal health and community welfare.

Looking ahead, FVM Udayana is optimistic that the presence of these new professors will serve as a driving force in fostering innovation, expanding collaboration networks, and enhancing institutional competitiveness at both national and international levels.
