TRAINING OF THE FMD VACCINATION TEAM, EVIDENCE OF THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE PROVINCE OF BALI IN ACCELING THE MANAGEMENT OF FMD BEFORE THE G-20 EVENT


Badung (15/09) - Thursday, 15 September 2022 The Bali Provincial Agriculture Office together with the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture, AIHSP (Australia Indonesia Health Security Partnership), and the Australian Government conducted training activities for the FMD Vaccination Team at HARRIS Hotel & Residences Sunset Road, in order to strengthen and ensure all elements involved can carry out their obligations properly. This activity was attended by agriculture offices in four regencies, namely Badung, Gianyar, Tabanan and Jembrana. Also present were students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University who took part in this vaccination activity.
The activity was opened with remarks by the Bali Provincial Office, BNPB, the Australian Government, and the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture's Directorate General of Animal Health. In the speech it was stated that this activity is a proof of the seriousness of the Bali Provincial Government in tackling Foot and Mouth Diseases (FMD) in Indonesia, especially in Bali ahead of the G-20 high level meeting. This activity is also supported by the assistance provided by the Australian Government so that the procurement of vaccines can be resolved and it is hoped that the vaccination target of at least 80% can be achieved.


The training is divided into two classes, namely the vaccinator and handler class, and the recorder/data encoder class. The Vaccination and Handler class was filled with material on the introduction of FMD, Biosecurity, Cold Chain, Vaccination Techniques, and Handling Techniques presented by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture. While the recorder class is filled with introduction to FMD, introduction to the iSIKHNAS application, and demonstration of its application. Then the activity continued with the consolidation of vaccination plans in each district. The students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University were distributed in the Vaccination Team in two districts, namely Gianyar and Tabanan Regencies.
