This year's activity was carried out in a hybrid manner at the Balai Penerapan Standar Instrumen Pertanian (BPSIP) with a total of 121 participants, with details of 51 offline participants and 70 dare participants via Webex Meeting who came from 9 different universities in Indonesia, namely the Trisakti University, Telkom University, Atmajaya University, Bina Nusantara University, Pelita Harapan University, Mandalika University of Education, Mahasaraswati Denpasar University, Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya University, Surabaya University and one high school (SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Lampung).
The Vetholic National Seminar is an annual work program that is carried out with a different concept each year. This year, Minpro Vetholic took a concept related to raising Balinese cattle based on organic farming. Based on this concept, the 2024 Vetholic National Seminar raised topics related to the development of making organic animal feed which invited two great speakers, Prof. Dr. drh. Ni Ketut Suwiti, M. Kes., (Prof. Suwiti), who is a professor of FKH Unud Balinese cattle researcher and I Ketut Darmawan, S.Pt., M.Si., a Balinese cattle organic feed expert.
After being officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Udayana University, Prof. Dr. drh. I Nyoman Suartha, M.Si., the event continued with the presentation of material by Prof. Suwiti. She said that 80% of Balinese cattle feed is already organic-based and it has many advantages, such as a high fertility percentage reaching 80-82%, high resistance to ticks and diseases, as well as good meat quality and low fat.
In addition to the presentation of material, this national seminar was also filled with a workshop session demonstrating the making of organic Balinese cattle feed with Mr. Ketut Darmawan. This feed making utilizes a number of agricultural wastes and several other ingredients, such as minerals, brown sugar liquid, bran, water, and Effective Microorganism 4 liquid (Em4). The final product of the fodder making is stored in plastic that is tied tightly so that no air can enter. “The making of this animal feed can be checked again after 14 days and if the stored feed is still green and does not turn black, then the making of organic animal feed has been successful”, Said Mr. Ketut Darmawan.
Overall, the Vetholic 2024 National Seminar event has run smoothly and well even though there were problems with the microphone during the opening ceremony. The participants also showed their enthusiasm during the event especially when the workshop session was held. The Chairperson of the Vetholic 2024 National Seminar, I Gede Wisnu Laksana Wibawa, hopes that the implementation of this activity can provide benefits for the participants who have participated in the success of this event. "I hope this event can be useful for participants in accordance with the purpose of this event," he said.
