The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University, Held Public Lecture on The Role of Veterinary Medicine in Global Health

Udayana University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine held a Public Lecture on the topic "The Role of Veterinary Medicine in Global Health" by Prof. Guy H. Palmer from the School for Global Animal Health, Washington State University (Friday, 05/19/2023) online with the Webex Meeting platform. This open lecture was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University, lecturers, as well as undergraduate and veterinary professional education students.

 


Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. drh. I Nyoman Suartha, M.Si said that this open lecture was a very good opportunity for students, especially those taking the International Tropical Veterinary Sciences course. "The opportunity to have discussions with expertise from aboard is a good opportunity for students to be able to exchange insights about the world of animal health, so take advantage of this open lecture opportunity to have discussions with Prof. Palmer” said Prof. Suartha in his speech.

 


In this public lecture Prof. Palmer delivered material on Transforming Vaccine Delivery for a World Free of Rabies which was moderated by drh. Tri Komala Sari, Ph.D. Prof. Palmer describes the success of rabies vaccination in the African region. Rabies management in the African region is carried out using an epidemiological approach, one of which is by carrying out mass vaccination of rabies-infecting animals such as dogs. Rabies is a classic one health problem, because to eradicate rabies requires cross-sectoral and multidisciplinary cooperation, said Prof. Palmer who is also the Director of Rabies Free Africa.

 


This public lecture is a series of lecture activities in the International Tropical Veterinary Sciences course. This open lecture provides an opportunity for students to have direct discussions with experts in their fields on the international stage. By providing direct experience with international experts, it is hoped that the participants will gain experience of international scientific culture.
