Strengthening Animal Health Synergy, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Udayana University Signs Cooperation Agreement with the Police Canine Directorate

Depok – The Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM), Udayana University, attended the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (Perjanjian Kerja Sama/PKS) with the Direktorat Polisi Satwa Polri. The event took place at the Korsabhara Baharkam Polri Building in Depok on Friday, 13 February 2026. The ceremony was led by the Director of the Police Animal Directorate, Brig. Gen. Pol. Tory Kristianto, S.I.K., and was attended by officials of Ditpolsatwa Polri.

The signing of the PKS marks a strategic step in strengthening synergy between a higher education institution and the Indonesian National Police, particularly in supporting the development of police animal services. The collaboration focuses on reinforcing academic initiatives, enhancing human resource competencies, and providing scientific support in the field of animal health.

The Dean of FVM, Prof. Dr. Drh. I Gusti Ngurah Sudisma, emphasized the importance of the partnership, especially in advancing animal health and welfare. The Ditpolsatwa team plays a vital role in managing K9 units, which support police duties including the detection of explosives and narcotics, as well as search and rescue operations. According to him, the health condition of working dogs significantly affects their performance and operational success, making academic and veterinary medical support essential.

Furthermore, Sudisma noted that cooperation between FVM Udayana University and Ditpolsatwa Polri has been established for years, including through student internship programs. With the formalization of the PKS, the collaboration is expected to expand through joint training, collaborative research, and the exchange of knowledge and technology.

Through this partnership, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Udayana University aims to make a tangible contribution to the advancement of veterinary science while supporting the continued professionalization of police animal management in Indonesia.
