Official Report: Ante-Mortem And Post-Mortem Briefing Eid Al-Adha 2026

On Saturday, May 16, 2026, an Ante Mortem and Post Mortem Training Program was held at the Nusantara Room, 4th Floor of the Agrocomplex Building, Udayana University.

This activity was organized as an effort to enhance the capacity and competence of students and volunteers in conducting health inspections of qurban animals, both before slaughter (ante mortem) and after slaughter (post mortem). The main objective of the program was to ensure that qurban animals met animal health requirements, animal welfare principles, as well as suitability and safety standards for public consumption in accordance with the principles of Safe, Healthy, Whole, and Halal (ASUH).

The training materials were delivered in two sessions. The first session was conducted in a hybrid format and featured speakers from government institutions and professional organizations. The first presentation, regarding the role of veterinary authorities in ensuring food safety, was delivered by I Ketut Wirata. He currently serves as Director of Veterinary Public Health under the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia.

The next presentation, discussing the role of veterinary public health in ensuring ASUH animal products, was delivered by Renova Ida Siahaan, Chairperson of the Indonesian Veterinary Public Health Association. The following presentation, concerning the role of veterinarians in supervising animal health and animal welfare, was delivered by Muhammad Munawaroh, Chairperson of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association.

The second session was presented by lecturers from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University. Kadek Karang Agustina delivered a presentation on the importance of ante mortem examinations for qurban animals, while I Wayan Suardana presented material on the importance of post mortem examinations for qurban animals.

Following the presentations, the activity continued with technical guidance on the implementation of ante mortem and post mortem inspections delivered by representatives from the Agriculture and Food Agencies of Badung Regency and Denpasar City. The event then proceeded with the official placement of identification badges (name tags) for the 2026 Eid al-Adha ante mortem and post mortem volunteer inspectors of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University, by representatives of the related agencies as a symbol of the volunteers’ readiness to carry out their duties in the field. The program was then officially concluded.

The activity was attended by students and volunteers who will be directly involved in the implementation of qurban animal inspections during the 2026 Eid al-Adha celebration. Throughout the event, all participants followed the series of activities in an orderly, disciplined, and enthusiastic manner.

Through this training program, it is expected that all participants will be able to understand and properly implement ante mortem and post mortem examination procedures accurately, systematically, and in accordance with established standards. In doing so, they are expected to support the implementation of qurban animal slaughter practices that comply with veterinary public health principles while ensuring the availability of animal-derived food products that are Safe, Healthy, Whole, and Halal (ASUH) for the community.
