Jegeg Bagus FKH Unud 2024: Upholding the Principles of Animal Welfare in The Era of Globalisation
Jegeg Bagus Kedokteran Hewan (JBKH) is a pageant event organized by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Udayana University (FKH Unud). This year, JBKH was held offline on Thursday, 7 November 2024, at Nusantara Room, 4th Floor, Agrokompleks Building, Udayana University, Sudirman Campus. This year JBKH carries the theme “Cakra Samsara: Animal Welfare Transformation in the Whirlpool of Globalization”. This activity aims to motivate the finalists to further explore, understand, and apply the principles of animal welfare in various aspects of life.
The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean III of FKH Unud, Dr. drh. I Wayan Sudira, M.Si., and was also attended by the Chairperson of the 2024 Veterinary Medicine Kinship Board (BKKH) Lecturer Committee, Dr. drh. Desak Nyoman Dewi Indira Laksmi, M.Biomed. A total of eight pairs of JBKH finalists participate in this activity and compete with high spirits. In order to assess the appearance of the finalists, this event also invited four judges who were experienced in the field of Jegeg Bagus in Bali, namely Jegeg Tabanan and Best Presenter Jegeg Tabanan 2019, Ni Made Gita Kusuma Yanti, S.I.P., The 2019 Indonesian Anti-Drug Ambassador and JBKH alumni in 2017, drh. Anak Agung Gede Agung Wahyu Maha Putra, Jegeg Bali 2022, Ni Putu Paramitha Wulandari. Finally, and Bagus Bali 2017 and Bali Police Public Relations Ambassador 2018, I Made Hariyoga, S.S., M.M.
The series of JBKH 2024 events began with an Opening Dance featuring eight pairs of finalists, followed by a speech session and opening number to introduce them to the audience. After that, the top five finalists of JBKH 2024 who passed to the next stage were announced. The five finalists then participated in a question and answer session to test their insight and public speaking skills. After the assessment of this session, the top three finalists were announced who were entitled to continue to the final round. At this stage, the three finalists again underwent a question and answer session for the final assessment. As part of the event, there was also a Jegeg Bagus Parade from 13 faculties at Udayana University, which added to the excitement and pride for all participants and supporters. The event was then closed with the most anticipated moment, the announcement of the winner of JBKH 2024.
This year, the title of Jegeg was won by Gwyn Ambrose Gallouis and the title of Bagus was won by I Made Radja Saputra. Both are students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine class of 2024 who have shown extraordinary ability, insight, and dedication in understanding and implementing the principles of animal welfare. Through the implementation of the JBKH 2024 event, it is hoped the finalists will not only be able to develop their social skills and broad insights, but will also be able to develop their potential in preparation for advancing to Jegeg Bagus Udayana University 2025..
