Highlighting the Uniqueness of Sun Bears Through the Minpro Rothschildi Omnivore Public Lecture FKH Unud 2024
Professional Interest (Minpro) Rothschildi Wildlife Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) Udayana University will again hold the 2024 Omnivore Public Lecture on Saturday, 15 June 2024 online through the Zoom Meeting application by raising the theme "Unraveling The Forest Sweetest Creatures: Sun Bears!". The event officially opened by the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University, was attended by the Rothschildi Wild Animal Management Supervisor and 141 participants.
The participants of this Omnivore Public Lecture did not only come from Udayana University, but also consisted of students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine from various universities in Indonesia, including Gadjah Mada University, Airlangga University, Syiah Kuala University, Wijaya Kusuma University, Padjajaran University, IPB University, Hasanuddin University, Tarumanagara University, Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta, Diponegoro University, and Nusa Cendana University. In addition, several public agencies such as Conservation Action Network, Prodigio, and Rainbow Sanctuary Indonesia also participated in this activity.
This activity presented a speaker who is experienced in the world of wildlife, especially in sun bears as well as a Program Manager of the Borneo Orang Utan Survival Foundation (BOSF) Samboja Lestari, namely drh. Agus Irwanto. In the material delivery session he delivered material entitled "Honey Bear (Malayan Sun Bear/Maylay Bear Dog Bear" which explained about the character, their characteristics, habitat, and medical treatment for honey bears. After the presentation of the materials, the committee successfully revived the atmosphere by organizing an Ice Breaking session through engaging games, which was well-received by the participants.
The activity continued with a very interactive and fun discussion session. Not only that, the committee also held a quiz with the material that had been presented by the speaker. As a closing, this Omnivore Public Lecture ended with a group photo session.
It is hoped that this Omnivore Public Lecture can be a forum to get new information related to the world of wildlife, especially sun bears and knowledge in the importance of protecting the environment and its habitat.
