FVM Unud Strengthens Cooperation Governance and Prepares Livestock Research Collaboration with PT Jaya Komoditi Indonesia

Denpasar, August 28, 2026 — The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University (FVM Unud), held a Coordination and Evaluation Meeting on Cooperation while discussing preparations for initiating a partnership with PT Jaya Komoditi Indonesia (Jakomindo). The meeting took place at the Meeting Room, 1st Floor, FVM Unud Campus, Sudirman, Denpasar.

The meeting was chaired by the Dean of FVM Unud, Prof. Dr. drh. I Gusti Ngurah Sudisma, M.Si., and attended by vice deans, heads of study programs, the Head of UPIKS, members of the Domestic and International Cooperation Team, as well as lecturers and administrative staff of FVM Unud. The meeting evaluated ongoing partnerships and discussed preparations for collaboration with PT Jaya Komoditi Indonesia in the areas of research, genetic breeding, and livestock development.

During the initial presentation, the proposed collaboration focused on the development of Bali cattle and dairy cattle through research and technology-based approaches. PT Jaya Komoditi Indonesia expressed its interest in exploring the development of technologies previously implemented through collaboration with partners in South Korea, while considering the characteristics of Bali cattle and the potential for livestock development in Bali.

In response to the proposal, FVM Unud emphasized the importance of comprehensive studies and careful review of the draft Cooperation Agreement. Based on the discussion, the collaboration will focus on research and technology development, while taking into account applicable regulations concerning genetic resources and livestock management in Bali.

The discussion also highlighted the need for relevant scientific disciplines to be involved, including animal nutrition, reproduction, and veterinary disease. Therefore, FVM Unud will establish a team responsible for reviewing the draft Cooperation Agreement and preparing the technical aspects of the collaboration in cattle and pig farming.

In addition to discussing the proposed partnership, the meeting also evaluated the implementation of FVM Unud’s existing cooperation with various partners. FVM Unud currently has 37 cooperation agreements with domestic and international partners, with several partnerships still undergoing administrative processes. Ongoing collaborations have also generated outputs in the form of publications and community service reports.

The Dean of FVM Unud emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation governance to ensure that each partnership produces documented outputs and contributes to the implementation of the three pillars of higher education. Cooperation data management, regular monitoring, and optimization of outputs were identified as part of the follow-up actions agreed upon during the meeting.

As a next step, the FVM Unud Cooperation Team will accelerate the completion of cooperation agreements that are still in process, encourage active partnerships to produce measurable and documented outputs, and strengthen monitoring of cooperation status and achievements. FVM Unud will also integrate data on cooperation agreements, partners, outputs, and performance indicators through an integrated database.

Through this coordination, FVM Unud continues to promote partnerships that support education, research, technology development, and the utilization of research outcomes. The proposed collaboration with PT Jaya Komoditi Indonesia is expected to serve as one avenue for research collaboration in the livestock sector while maintaining scientific considerations, regulatory compliance, and the sustainability of local livestock genetic resources.

This activity is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDGs 4: Quality Education, SDGs 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDGs 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Collaboration between higher education institutions and external partners forms part of efforts to strengthen the research and innovation ecosystem while expanding partnerships to support the advancement of science and technology in the veterinary field.
