FVM Unud Discusses Strengthening Governance, Innovation, and Veterinary Education Development

Denpasar, August 26, 2026 — The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Udayana (FVM Unud), held a Coordination and Evaluation Meeting on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Meeting Room on the 1st Floor of the FVM Sudirman Building. Chaired by the Dean of FVM Unud, the meeting discussed several agendas, including strengthening innovation and business units, organizing clinical training sites for the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program, publication strategies, as well as workload mapping and opportunities for external collaboration.

Discussions related to the innovation and business units covered strengthening governance through the implementation of the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle, setting performance targets, and organizing legal aspects of business units under the faculty, including the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (RSHP) and laboratories.

In addition to governance, the meeting discussed the development of services and non-tuition-fee revenue sources through continuing professional development (CPD) programs. The forms of activities discussed included certified training and short courses in veterinary medicine, such as ultrasonography (USG) and artificial insemination (AI). These activities may be developed through collaboration with RSHP and private-sector partners.

The development of business units also covered the expansion of diagnostic services, particularly reproductive laboratory examinations, as well as the development of entrepreneurship activities and the downstream development of veterinary products. Veterinary products resulting from faculty innovations were discussed for further development through business matching and pitching mechanisms.

In the area of professional education, the meeting discussed the organization of DVM clinical rotations at several off-campus clinical training sites. One of the discussions focused on preparing a clearer activity schedule at the Sobangan Unit to support the implementation of clinical rotations. The use of the SiDebi application was also discussed to support students in recording estrus detection and livestock health conditions in real time.

FVM Unud also discussed plans to expand DVM clinical training sites to several locations, namely Sobangan, Banyuwangi, Bajera, and North Lombok. To support implementation, the meeting also discussed the issuance of decrees appointing supervisors for off-campus clinical training sites and the proposed allocation of honoraria for lecturers and practitioners serving as supervisors.

In the area of publications, the meeting discussed the importance of delivering faculty information through relevant and accessible media. Publications through the faculty website and social media will also be directed toward highlighting their relevance to the applicable Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The use of visual and video content was also discussed as part of publication development, including through collaboration with student organizations.

The development of learning experiences through the expansion of clinical training sites, continuing professional training, and competency enhancement for students and professionals is relevant to SDG 4: Quality Education. This relevance can be seen in efforts to provide more diverse learning experiences and support competency development aligned with the needs of the veterinary profession.

On internal matters, the meeting also discussed more accurate data collection on employee workloads and classroom utilization as part of the evaluation and resource planning within the faculty.

Through this coordination and evaluation meeting, FVM Unud continues to promote improvements in governance, innovation development, education, and collaboration. The outcomes of the discussions are expected to serve as a foundation for implementing more focused programs that provide benefits to the academic community and contribute to the continued development of veterinary education.
