FVM Udayana Shares Outcome-Based Education Practices During Benchmarking Visit by FVM Wijaya Kusuma University Surabaya

Jimbaran — The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University (FVM Udayana) welcomed a benchmarking visit from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Wijaya Kusuma University Surabaya (FVM UWKS) on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Held in the Seminar Room on the 3rd Floor of the FVM Udayana Building, Jimbaran Campus, the visit served as a forum for exchanging experiences in educational management as well as exploring potential collaboration in the implementation of the university’s three pillars of higher education, known as the Tridharma of Higher Education.
The visit was attended by leaders, academic representatives, and administrative staff from both institutions. From FVM Udayana, the participants included the Vice Deans, Study Program Coordinators, UPIKS Coordinator, Domestic Cooperation Team, Head of Administration, sub-coordinators, and administrative staff.
In his remarks, Dean of FVM Udayana, Prof. Dr. drh. I Gusti Ngurah Sudisma, M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the visit from FVM UWKS. He stated that the visit was not only an opportunity to exchange experiences in the implementation of education but also served as an initial step toward exploring collaboration in the Tridharma of Higher Education. The Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Wijaya Kusuma University Surabaya, also expressed his appreciation for the warm reception from FVM Udayana and expressed hope that the visit would serve as a starting point for strengthening cooperation and synergy between the two institutions.
The exchange of information continued with a presentation on the implementation of education at FVM Udayana delivered by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Planning, Prof. Dr. drh. I Wayan Suardana, M.Si. In his presentation, he outlined the educational programs offered by FVM Udayana, including the Bachelor of Veterinary Science, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Master of Veterinary Science Study Program, and Doctoral of Veterinary Science. The presentation provided an overview of educational implementation and the development of graduate competencies in the field of veterinary medicine.
In addition to introducing its educational programs, FVM Udayana shared its experience in implementing Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-based Semester Learning Plans. The discussion covered the alignment of the learning process with graduate profiles, learning evaluation and innovation, as well as the implementation of transparency and accountability in the educational process. Opportunities for developing cooperation, particularly in academic affairs, human resource development, and facility development, were also discussed. In this context, curriculum management, quality improvement, and the utilization of digital technology were also highlighted as important components in supporting higher education that is responsive to evolving learning needs.
Meanwhile, the Vice Dean for General Affairs and Finance of FVM Udayana expressed the faculty’s commitment to providing opportunities for collaboration in academic development, human resource improvement, and facility development. Strengthening such cooperation is in line with FVM Udayana’s development direction, which places collaboration with various stakeholders as part of its efforts to advance knowledge and technology, education, and community service.
The benchmarking visit was also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education. The exchange of experiences regarding curriculum development, OBE-based learning management, and educational quality improvement contributes to efforts to strengthen the learning process and graduate competencies.
In addition, the activity was in line with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through the development of institutional relationships and the exploration of collaboration between FVM Udayana and FVM UWKS. Partnerships among higher education institutions can provide opportunities to share best practices, develop human resources, and create opportunities for collaboration in implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education.
Through this visit, FVM Udayana and FVM UWKS gained an opportunity to exchange experiences in the implementation of veterinary medical education. The meeting also formed part of the efforts of both institutions to strengthen the quality of learning and explore potential areas of cooperation that can be developed according to the needs of each institution.
