FVM Udayana Prepares International Collaboration Expansion to Timor Leste, Promoting Research and Global Publications

Denpasar – The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Udayana (FVM Udayana), continues to strengthen its internationalization efforts through a plan to develop international collaboration with Timor Leste. The initiative was discussed during the Research and Community Service Operational Guidelines for Activities (POK) Revision Meeting held on April 30, 2026, at the 1st Floor Meeting Room of FVM Udayana Sudirman Campus.

The meeting, which was opened by the Vice Dean II, discussed program adjustment coordination and revisions to the research budget as part of FVM Udayana’s strategy to expand international partnerships. In his remarks, the Dean of FVM Udayana explained that challenges in research funding had encouraged the faculty leadership to revise the 2026 POK budget in order to support international collaboration activities in Timor Leste.

Through this program, FVM Udayana has designed three main activities to be carried out in Timor Leste, namely community service, research, as well as scientific dissemination and publication. These activities are also intended to support the achievement of Key Performance Indicators related to international collaboration.

Based on the agreed division of responsibilities, the Undergraduate Program (S1) will focus on research activities with targets involving international collaboration and publications related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Meanwhile, the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Study Program (DVM Program) and Doctoral Program (S3) will concentrate on community service and dissemination of research outcomes. The Master’s Program (S2), on the other hand, will emphasize community service activities aimed at strengthening international partnerships and SDGs-based publications.

FVM Udayana is also planning visits to two institutions in Timor Leste, namely government institutions and higher education institutions. All Study Program Coordinators, the Vice Dean II, the Head of Cooperation, and the Head of UPIKS have been asked to begin technical preparations for the activities along with the proposed budget plans.

In addition to discussing research and community service collaboration, the meeting also highlighted the importance of increasing the number of international students at FVM Udayana. The Dean of FVM Udayana revealed that the current number of international students within the faculty remains limited, making international dissemination activities one of the strategies to expand the faculty’s academic promotion abroad.

As a follow-up action, Study Program Coordinators were instructed to prepare information related to curricula, international student admission procedures, and updates regarding new student admissions on the faculty’s official website. FVM Udayana also aims to increase joint publications with international partners, strengthen scientific citations, and expand lecturer exchange programs.

The meeting also discussed plans to establish a curriculum development team to support the readiness of all study programs toward the implementation of OBE (Outcome-Based Education). In the future, the team will also participate in training on CPL (Graduate Learning Outcomes) assessment methods.

Through this initiative, FVM Udayana demonstrates its commitment to continuously expanding its global network while improving the quality of education, research, and community service through international collaboration.
