Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Udayana Explores Strategic Collaboration with PT.Sanbe Farma, Opening Opportunities for Internships and Vaccine Development

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Universitas Udayana (FVM Udayana) continues to strengthen its collaboration network with the industrial sector by receiving a visit from PT.Sanbe Farma on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. The meeting, held in the Meeting Room on the 1st Floor of the FVM Udayana Building, Denpasar Campus, marked a strategic step toward enhancing the quality of education, research, and innovation in the field of animal health.

The meeting was officially opened by the Dean of FVM Udayana, who emphasized the importance of synergy between higher education institutions and industry, particularly in supporting the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. In his remarks, the Dean stated that collaboration with PT.Sanbe Farma is expected to provide broader opportunities for undergraduate students to participate in internship programs, as well as for students in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Study Program (DVM Program) to undertake fieldwork practice. In addition, this collaboration is considered strategic in supporting vaccine development, which is a key focus in animal health.

In line with this, the Vice Dean I of FVM Udayana highlighted that the partnership would benefit not only students but also lecturers in advancing research activities. The presence of an industry partner is seen as opening access to resources, practical experience, and research opportunities that are more applicable and aligned with real-world needs.

The visit was attended by faculty leaders, lecturers, and administrative staff of FVM Udayana, along with the team from PT.Sanbe Farma, consisting of professionals in their respective fields. During the discussion session, both parties explored various potential areas of collaboration for future development.

Administratively, the collaboration will begin with the establishment of a legal framework through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universitas Udayana and PT.Sanbe Farma, followed by a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between FVM Udayana and the company. This step will serve as an essential foundation to ensure the sustainability and clarity of the collaboration’s implementation.

Further discussions revealed PT.Sanbe Farma’s commitment to providing internship opportunities for undergraduate students and fieldwork facilities for DVM Program students. Moreover, the company expressed its willingness to organize public lectures, industrial visits to its manufacturing facilities, and research collaborations, particularly in the development of parvovirus vaccines as one of the main targets of the partnership.

The meeting concluded with high expectations from both parties that the collaboration will not only be short-term but will evolve into a sustainable partnership. Through strong synergy between academia and industry, it is hoped that more competent, innovative graduates will be produced, ready to face the challenges of the workforce and advancements in veterinary science.
