Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University Welcomes Visit from SMAN 3 Sidoarjo Students, Introducing the World of Veterinary Medicine and Career Opportunities

Denpasar, April 13, 2026 – The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University (FVM Udayana), welcomed an educational visit from students of SMAN 3 Sidoarjo held at the Bangsa Room, Rectorate Building of Udayana University. The activity was attended by 120 eleventh-grade students along with 10 accompanying teachers, aiming to provide direct insight into higher education and the veterinary profession.

In his remarks, the Dean of FVM Udayana introduced the faculty profile, which consists of four study programs: the Undergraduate Program, the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Study Program, the Master’s Program, and the Doctoral Program. It was also conveyed that FVM graduates have broad career opportunities, ranging from establishing independent veterinary clinics to working in various sectors related to animal health, public health, and food safety.

FVM Udayana is supported by various practical training facilities across Bali to enhance student learning. In addition, there are scholarship opportunities through partnerships with industry, including with Charoen Pokphand. Studying in Bali also offers added value, as students can combine academic activities with environmental and cultural experiences.

Meanwhile, the Principal of SMAN 3 Sidoarjo stated that the purpose of this visit was to provide students with a real overview of university life and the professional world, particularly in veterinary medicine. He expressed hope that students would take advantage of this opportunity as a reference in determining their future educational paths. The activity continued with the screening of a profile video of FVM Udayana, providing an overview of facilities, academic activities, and student life on campus.

During the discussion session, students showed high enthusiasm by asking various questions. One of the topics discussed was veterinary pharmacy, which was explained to differ from human pharmacy as it is more complex and specific to various animal species, including differences in dosage and treatment approaches. FVM Udayana also has its own distinctive strengths compared to other similar faculties, particularly the inclusion of courses that specifically study local animals such as the kintamani dog, bali cattle, and bali pigs. This aims to preserve scientific knowledge as well as the genetic purity of local animals, especially bali cattle. Regarding admission pathways, FVM Udayana offers three routes: SNBP, SNBT, and the independent admission pathway. In addition, opportunities for international careers are also available through student exchange programs and collaborations with various institutions both domestically and abroad. From a curriculum perspective, FVM Udayana emphasizes practice-based learning, including skills in animal handling, medical techniques, and professional ethics. The curriculum has been aligned with required standards to produce competent and professional graduates.

Through this activity, students are expected to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the field of veterinary medicine and use it as a consideration in choosing their future educational paths. FVM Udayana remains committed to expanding access to information and introducing the academic world to younger generations as part of its efforts to produce high-quality human resources in the field of animal health.
