Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Udayana University Held Worldl Veterinary Day (WVD) 2023
On Saturday, April 29 2023, the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) Udayana University (UNUD) held the main event of World Veterinary Day (WVD) with the theme "Unity In Divetsity Rise Up Our Dignity". This activity was held at the Sudirman Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) Building.
In this activity guided by Adi Putra Novanolo Waruwu and Gabriella Panyuwa as the master of ceremony, the event was opened with an opening by the master of ceremony, followed by a prayer read by Indah, then the audience and invited guests sang Indonesia Raya. The event continued with a report from the committee chairman by Janice Stevenson Mustaine, then continued with remarks from the Head of BEM (Alvin Limanto), remarks from the activity supervisor (drh. Putu Henrywaesa Sudipa, M.Sc), and remarks from Prof. Dr. drh. I Nyoman Suartha, M.Sc as the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Udayana University who also opened the World Veterinary Day (WVD) peak day event.
“Veterinary doctors have a big role in people's lives, veterinarians are institutions or individuals who work to provide healthy food for human welfare. Because of the important role of the veterinarian, the world commemorates World Veterinary Day which is celebrated every April around the world," said Prof. Dr. drh. I Nyoman Suartha, M.Si as the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in his speech.
"Hopefully the activities of World Veterinary Day (WVD) can provide benefits especially for us as veterinary students so that we have a sense of pride in the profession as veterinarians. In the future, through this activity, the community will also become more aware of animal health, and this activity can also become a promotional event for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to the public," said Alvin Limanto as Chair of the 2023 FVM BEM.
On the peak day of World Veterinary Day (WVD), two competitions were held, namely pet modeling and pet eating competitions. The pet modeling and pet eating competition presented three judges, namely drh. Putu Devi Jayanti, S.KH., M.Sc, drh. Putu Ayu Sisyawati Putriningsih, M.Sc, and drh. I Wayan Nico Fajar Gunawan, M.Si who is an active lecturer at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University.
The pet eating competition was attended by 10 participants who were divided into 3 groups. The first group is 3 people, the second group is 3 people, and the third group is 4 people. In this pet eating competition, participants bring food for their animals from home. Participants were given 5 minutes to prepare food, followed by a 7-minute fast-eating contest. The pet modeling competition was attended by 5 participants, each of whom had 5 minutes to appear, then continued with the jury's comments.
The winners of the pet eating competition were Ni Komang Sri Ratih (1st place), Gabriel (2nd place), and Masita (3rd place). The winners of the pet modeling competition were Viviana Anyaputri Tanurahardja (1st place), Made Sandy Widhi Raharja (2nd place), and Juan Eriona (3rd place). The winners of the pet eating and pet modeling contests will receive cash prizes and certificates. This activity ended with a documentation and closing session.
Messages and impressions from one of the participants, namely “the impression is exciting to meet many other dogs, the place is not hot so it's okay. The message is to give announcements to class groups or batches to enliven the event, so that those who watch the program will be crowded and the program will be even more lively," said Jelita Agethi, one of the participants in the World Veterinary Day competition in giving a message and impression.
UDAYANA UNIVERSITY
